Grampians

This was a fantastic Christmas present from Tim! A romantic but still very active weekend away in the mountain town known as the Grampians. We even rented a snazzy convertible for the 4 hour drive, and our 'Treehouse' accomodation was a treat like no other - we literally felt like we were staying in a treehouse. This was our view waking up every morning (and those were the flowers Tim got me).

We awoke the next morning and headed towards our first activity - a surprise for me =) Horseback riding! Check out Tim and I on our respective horses - he was able to command Don a bit better than I handled Pebbles, and I must say I got a bit jealous that our tour guide let Tim gallop away on Don ahead of all of us (most importantly me).

That afternoon, we took a nice hike through some forests recovering from bushfires and down to a few waterfalls. There I am after climbing up a large rock in front of the MacKenzie Falls. I think this was right around the time my camera battery died, so we had to go on a frantic search for a disposable camera.

The next day, it was Tim's choice of activity, and he took me rock-climbing and abseiling (repelling). Climbing up the rock was the easiest part, but abseiling down took a bit of nerve to get past the first step. Here I am about to head down! The cliff wasn't too steep, but enough for a thrill!

You would think after an intense morning of rock-climbing we'd take it easy in the afternoon, but not so. We chose to take a 2 hour hike up to the top of the Pinnacle. It was quite a hike, but most definitely worth it. Check out these views - I felt like I was looking over all of Australia.

On the way home, we stopped by a Wildlife Reserve to see a few Australian animals. There I am feeding the wallabies! They were so cute. It was a really, really great weekend for both of us.
